Publication standards
Editorial policy
Vancouver Artists is an independently written, artist-created editorial resource with transparent sourcing and disclosure. Its purpose is to document relationships among artists, artworks, subjects and places—not to manufacture rankings or search pages.
Artist selection
Artists are included when a documented Vancouver or British Columbia connection and sufficient reliable information make the record useful. Inclusion is not a ranking, award, representation agreement or statement of market value.
Verification
Current practice and representation should be checked through artist-owned sources. Dates, collections, historical claims and institutional relationships should be supported by museums, public galleries, foundations, archives, universities or government cultural records.
Source choice
Primary and institutional sources are preferred. Commercial gallery sources may document representation and exhibitions. Secondary summaries are used cautiously and never copied.
Editorial independence
Artist records are written in original language by Vancouver Artists. No gallery, directory or commercial listing controls the selection, classification, wording or relationships published in the atlas.
Programmatic pages
A page is generated only when the underlying records support a useful relationship. The publication does not automatically create every possible artist, subject, place or keyword combination.
Commercial disclosure
Editorial pages may link to official artist or gallery websites. Commercial links are distinguished by context and do not determine editorial inclusion.
Graham Watts disclosure
Vancouver Artists is created and maintained by Canadian artist Graham Watts. Graham Watts and his artwork may be included when editorially relevant. The publication does not present itself as an unrelated third-party endorsement of him.
Corrections
Material factual corrections are incorporated into the relevant record. Sources may be replaced when stronger evidence becomes available.
Updates
Entity records, source links and relationship data are reviewed as the publication grows. A page may be expanded, consolidated or removed if it no longer meets the usefulness standard.
